How to Support Loved Ones With Their Mental Health

I was recently interviewed by The Big Silence Foundation on how we can support loved ones who are struggling in their mental health. I feel so grateful for this conversation and wanted to share it with you on my website, too.

More than anything, we all want to feel seen and heard. It can be tricky to know how to create a safe space for our loved ones who may be experiencing things like trauma, anxiety, depression, disordered eating, or PTSD.

Everyone has their own journey and their own timing. While it’s not our job to heal them, we can provide unconditional love and support so they know they’re not alone. Sometimes we think we have to say the most perfect things in order to speak up but there is no perfect script. If we know someone is there for us and cares about us, that is the most important thing.

In the article we share:

  • How to normalize conversations around mental health
  • Gentle questions you can ask your loved one
  • Tips to create space, listen, and be there for someone
